Tracker Updates for Returning Users

Learn what has changed with Student Tracker, Group Tracker, and former Master Templates, including how to find and clone existing Trackers and recommended steps for starting a new school year.

If you have used Behavior Advantage Tracker in previous years, you'll notice several changes designed to make Trackers easier to create, manage, and use.

Student Trackers are now managed within individual student files, while Group Tracker provides a dedicated tool for classroom-, program-, and intervention-group monitoring. We've also introduced Tracker Presets and a guided setup process to make creating new Trackers faster and more flexible.

What Happened to Master Templates?

Master Templates have been replaced by the new Group Tracker tool.

Your previous Master Templates have not been deleted. They are available as Archived Group Trackers and can be viewed or cloned whenever you need them.

To find a previous Master Template:

  1. Open Group Tracker from the Navigation Menu.
  2. From the Active search menu, select Archived.
  3. Locate the Tracker you used previously.
  4. Use the Group Tracker Actions menu to view or clone the Tracker.

Cloning an existing Tracker allows you to preserve Behavior Domains, rating scale descriptions, and other settings you have already developed while creating a new Group Tracker and data set.

Student Tracker vs. Group Tracker

Student Tracker is designed for individualized student data collection and progress monitoring. Student Trackers are now created and managed directly within the student's file in Student Supports.

Want to use one student's Tracker as a starting point for another student? You can now clone a Student Tracker to another student from the initial student's Behavior Supports page in Student Supports.

Group Tracker is designed for classrooms, programs, Check-In/Check-Out, and other situations where the same goals and scoring system are being used across multiple students.

Group Tracker allows you to enroll students, efficiently enter data for multiple students from one screen, and monitor progress across students or groups using the Group Graph.

While Group Tracker provides consistent goals (Behavior Domains) and a common scoring system across all enrolled students, each student's individual Group Tracker can still be customized within their student file in Student Supports.

For an individual student, you can:

  • Add individualized Behavior Domains and Target Behaviors.
  • Customize the schedule of Classes/Intervals used for data entry.
  • Hide elements that do not apply to the student, removing them from future data entry while preserving existing data and graphs.

This allows teams to maintain the consistency and efficiency of a Group Tracker while still individualizing data collection to meet the needs of specific students.

Creating a New Student or Group Tracker

When creating a new Student Tracker or Group Tracker, you'll begin with a setup page that provides two options.

You can preview and select from available Tracker Presets or use the guided setup process to build a custom Tracker from scratch.

Tracker Presets provide a convenient starting point with preconfigured Behavior Domains, rating scale descriptions, and Measurement Periods. Once selected, the Tracker can be customized to meet the needs of your student, classroom, or program.

Starting Fresh for a New School Year

For returning students with an existing Student Tracker, we recommend cloning the existing Tracker and beginning the new school year with a new data set rather than continuing to add data to the previous year's Tracker.

This allows you to carry forward a Tracker that is still working well while keeping data from each school year separate and easier to interpret.

Starting a new Tracker is also a good opportunity to review your:

  • Behavior Domains
  • Rating scale descriptions
  • Measurement Periods

Make any needed adjustments before beginning data collection for the new school year.

The same approach can be helpful for Group Trackers. If an existing Group Tracker provides a useful starting point, clone it and make any necessary updates before enrolling students and beginning a new data set.

Important: Fully configure a new Group Tracker before enrolling students. Once students have been enrolled, the core Group Tracker configuration can no longer be edited.

Interested in a Custom Tracker Preset?

Does your district or organization need its own custom Tracker Preset as a common starting point for new Student or Group Trackers?
